Job Description: Controls Engineer (Mechanical)
Position Overview:
As a Controls Engineer (Mechanical), you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing control systems for mechanical engineering projects. The primary objective of this position is to ensure the efficient and effective operation of mechanical systems by analyzing, designing, and modifying control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze and understand project requirements to develop control system designs that meet functional specifications and performance criteria.
2. Design, develop, and implement control algorithms and strategies to optimize mechanical system performance.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with mechanical components and subsystems.
4. Conduct detailed analysis and testing of control systems to identify and resolve any issues or inefficiencies.
5. Perform system integration, calibration, and validation activities to ensure seamless functioning of control systems with mechanical equipment.
6. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including control system design specifications, drawings, manuals, and operating procedures.
7. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to select and procure control system components, ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications.
8. Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in control systems to provide recommendations for process improvements and innovation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) as a Controls Engineer or similar role, preferably in the mechanical engineering industry.
3. Strong knowledge of control system design, including control algorithms, feedback loops, and PID controllers.
4. Proficient in using software tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or similar platforms for control system design and analysis.
5. Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
6. In-depth knowledge of industry-standard control system components, including sensors, actuators, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
7. Familiarity with electrical systems and their integration with mechanical control systems.
8. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in control systems effectively.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and vendors.
